In a disturbing incident in Gidhaur block, Bihar, armed criminals looted the residence of former Civil Surgeon Dr. Vijendra Satyarthi on Republic Day morning. Around five masked assailants forcibly entered the house by breaking the lock. Holding the family at gunpoint, they proceeded to rob the household.
The criminals injected sedatives into Dr. Vijendra Satyarthi, his wife Pushpam Satyarthi, and their son Dr. Vikram Satyarthi, rendering them unconscious. Neighbors discovered the family unconscious around 8:30 a.m., prompting panic in the area. Jhajha MLA Damodar Rawat and local residents rushed to the scene upon receiving the news.
Dr. Vikram Satyarthi, upon regaining partial consciousness, recounted the harrowing experience. He described how the armed intruders broke in, held them at gunpoint, looted the house, and threatened their lives. The robbers claimed to have been tipped off about a substantial sum of money in the house and even mentioned a contract to kill the family.
Gidhaur Police Station Sub-Inspector Jayprakash Singh informed that the victims are currently receiving medical treatment, and their statements will be recorded once they fully recover. The police have initiated an investigation, examining CCTV footage and exploring all possible leads. The incident has raised significant concerns about law and order in the region, particularly given the occurrence on Republic Day.
