Around 15 armed robbers raided a house in Bihar’s Sitamarhi district, looting cash and jewelry while using crude bombs to intimidate the residents. The incident occurred at Rama Shankar Gupta’s residence in Kanhauli Bazaar, under the jurisdiction of Kanhauli Police Station. The robbery, which took place around 12:50 a.m., caused panic in the neighborhood.
The robbers, armed with country-made pistols, crude bombs, axes, iron rods, and batons, forcibly entered the house. They assaulted Rama Shankar Gupta, held him at gunpoint, and stole valuables after snatching keys to a Godrej cupboard and other almirahs. During the robbery, Gupta’s wife was unwell, and his son Shatrughan Gupta was returning from the market with medicines.
Shatrughan Gupta was confronted by the robbers at the house’s entrance upon his return. He and his brother Laxman Gupta managed to escape from the house, seeking help from local residents. The criminals threw bombs to deter the approaching residents, but no one was injured. Two individuals injured during the robbery were taken to a primary health center, with their condition reported as stable.
Local police responded promptly upon receiving the alert. Senior officers, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), visited the crime scene. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. A case has been filed at the Kanhauli police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The robbers wore masks during the crime, and a manhunt is underway to apprehend them.
