General Dhiraj Seth, the Chief of Army Staff, recently toured forward locations along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Jammu Division. During his visit, he assessed the security situation, counter-insurgency measures, and infrastructure development in areas like Poonch, Rajouri, and Sunderbani. The COAS also praised the troops for their dedication and urged them to maintain operational focus and excellence.
This marks General Dhiraj Seth’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir since assuming office as COAS on June 30, 2026. While in the region, he met with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to discuss security concerns. Additionally, he held discussions with senior army officials to evaluate operational readiness and combat preparedness.
General Dhiraj Seth holds the highest active rank in the Indian Army and is the 31st Chief of the Army Staff. Previously, he served as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff and held various command positions, including General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Command and South Western Command. He also serves as the Colonel of the Regiment of the Armoured Corps.
