Chief of the Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth recently visited the headquarters of the XXXIII Corps, also known as the Trishakti Corps, in Sukna, West Bengal. This Corps, part of the Eastern Command, is responsible for security along the China border in Sikkim.
During the visit, General Seth held meetings with senior commanders to assess the security situation and operational readiness of the formations within the Corps. He was briefed on operational deployments, security dynamics, and technological advancements aimed at enhancing operational effectiveness and logistical capabilities.
General Seth also interacted with personnel from the Indian Army and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), praising their dedication, professionalism, and high operational standards in challenging terrains. He emphasized the importance of jointness and military-civil fusion in effectively addressing the complexities of the evolving security environment.
The Trishakti Corps, consisting of three Divisions located in different areas, plays a crucial role in maintaining operational alertness in strategic regions. Notably, the Corps oversees the trijunction between India, Bhutan, and Tibet at Doklam, a significant area where a military stand-off occurred in 2017.
