After the e-KYC correction deadline passed last month, approximately 1.88 crore women in Maharashtra qualify for the Ladki Bahin Yojana. The state government extended the deadline for e-KYC corrections for the Ladki Bahin scheme until April 30, as confirmed by officials on Monday.
Following the deadline, data from the Women and Child Development department revealed that about 1.88 crore women applied for the completion of the process. Initially, in February, the scheme benefitted 1.75 crore individuals. With funds received from the Finance department, payouts for March and April will be disbursed soon.
Previously, 68 lakh accounts out of 2.43 crore under Maharashtra’s ‘Ladki Bahin Yojana’ were permanently closed due to failure to complete the mandatory e-KYC process. Although the original deadline was March 31, it was extended to April 30, potentially leading to more closed beneficiary accounts.
The state allocates approximately Rs 3,700 crore monthly for 2.25 crore beneficiaries, providing Rs 1,500 per month to each eligible woman. However, the allocated amount will now be reduced. In the 2026-27 annual budget, the state government decreased the Ladki Bahin Yojana allocation to Rs 26,000 crore from Rs 36,000 crore in 2025-26.
