The Bhadrak Police in Odisha swiftly apprehended the suspect involved in the alleged brutal murder of an 11-year-old girl following a sexual assault in the Chandbali area. The girl, who had gone missing on Tuesday morning, was discovered dead with multiple wounds behind the Panchayat Office the same evening, sparking outrage among locals who demanded immediate action.
Tension persisted in the Chandbali area until authorities intervened, promising strict measures against the culprit and steps to prevent similar incidents. The accused’s residence was also vandalized by locals. The Bhadrak Police, acting promptly, arrested the suspect from Jagatsinghpur district after a case of murder and sexual assault was filed based on the victim’s father’s complaint.
Describing the incident as “very unfortunate and sensitive,” IGP Mishra confirmed the girl’s murder and commended the police for swiftly identifying and apprehending the suspect. Only one person is currently implicated, with incriminating evidence seized and a confession obtained from the accused.
Opposition parties BJD and Congress have announced plans for a Chandbali bandh to protest the law and order situation and seek financial compensation for the victim’s family.
