The Mumbai police have arrested a 48-year-old woman, Rashi Chabria, in connection with the theft of gold jewelry valued at INR 25 lakh from Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon’s mother’s residence. Chabria, who had been hired to assist the actress’s mother, had gained the family’s trust over time by helping with household chores and caregiving.
According to the police, the theft occurred at the family’s residence, where the stolen jewelry and two mobile phones were allegedly kept in a locker. The incident came to light when the family discovered the missing items and questioned the house help. Initially denying involvement, Chabria later confessed to giving the jewelry to someone named Jagdish and returned the watches.
A case was registered at the Juhu police station after the complainant’s mother’s old jewelry went missing from a safe during house renovations. Despite admitting to the theft, Chabria did not return the stolen gold, leading to her arrest. Authorities recovered 15 grams of gold from her, and investigations are ongoing.
