The recent arrest of Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Purnea in connection with a 1995 case has stirred political responses from various leaders. LJP MP Arun Bharti emphasized the significance of upholding democratic values and legal norms for all Members of Parliament. Bihar Minister Dilip Jaiswal defended the arrest, stating it was carried out in compliance with judicial orders.
Opposition leaders criticized the arrest, alleging political motives behind it. Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput accused the Bihar government of acting out of fear and intolerance towards Pappu Yadav’s anti-corruption stance. Congress MP Sukhdeo Bhagat raised concerns about the arrest’s timing and the manner in which it was conducted during an ongoing Parliament session.
Pappu Yadav was apprehended by Patna Police late on Friday night following a court-issued property attachment warrant related to a 1995 forgery case. The complaint alleges that Pappu Yadav fraudulently acquired a property for his office, which was rented under deceptive circumstances.
