AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi criticized the Centre for advising states to monitor pro-Iran radical preachers following the Israel-US attacks on Iran. Owaisi accused the Modi government of double standards, questioning the lack of advisories against anti-Muslim hate speeches.
Owaisi expressed his disapproval of the advisory allegedly issued by the Union Home Ministry, highlighting instances of incitement against Muslims and anti-Indian sentiments. He emphasized the absence of advisories to address anti-Muslim hate speech, citing the Centre’s stance on law and order being a state subject.
The Union Home Ministry’s letter to states and union territories on February 28 urged monitoring of inflammatory speeches by pro-Iran radical preachers to prevent potential violence. States were instructed to observe social media activities of extremists and global terror groups to maintain law and order and anticipate any domestic repercussions from global events.
Protests erupted in various states to denounce the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei in the US-Israel attacks, with Hyderabad also witnessing demonstrations to mourn his death. AIMIM, led by Owaisi, condemned the killing as “illegal and immoral,” with party members participating in the protests in Hyderabad.
