She passed away at the age of 92 due to multi-organ failure following a cardiac arrest after being admitted to Breach Candy Hospital for exhaustion and a chest infection. Her mortal remains were placed at her Lower Parel residence for fans and celebrities to pay their respects from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Thousands of emotional fans lined the streets of Mumbai during the funeral procession to Dadar, where she was cremated with a 21-gun salute and a guard of honor by the Maharashtra Police. Political leaders and Bollywood stars, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid their final respects, expressing deep grief over the loss.
Asha Bhosle’s remarkable career spanned over eight decades, with Guinness World Records recognizing her as the most recorded artist in music history with over 12,000 songs. She was versatile, mastering classical ghazals, soulful melodies like ‘Dil Cheez Kya Hai’, and high-energy pop hits like ‘Dum Maro Dum’.
