Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the state government’s key welfare schemes will recommence in August, signaling the initiation of crucial social aid programs for the upcoming financial year.
The distribution of subsidized masoor dal and sugar will kick off on August 1, with the Orunodoi scheme’s monthly financial aid resuming from August 3, as per the Chief Minister’s outlined schedule. Additionally, application forms for student welfare initiatives Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu will be distributed starting August 6, while the Jiban Prerana Asoni program is set to restart in September.
Describing these schemes as Assam’s “blockbuster welfare schemes,” the Chief Minister assured that they would once again benefit individuals across the state, with Orunodoi being a significant direct benefit transfer scheme targeting financial assistance for economically vulnerable households, especially women.
The subsidized food program allows eligible families to purchase essential items like masoor dal and sugar at discounted rates through the public distribution system, while the Nijut Moina and Nijut Babu initiatives focus on aiding students by providing financial support to promote higher education and reduce dropout rates.
The resumption of these welfare schemes aligns with the government’s emphasis on welfare delivery alongside infrastructure development and economic progress, aiming to positively impact numerous families, students, and economically disadvantaged groups in Assam, showcasing the government’s dedication to its welfare-focused agenda.
