Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of Assam praised the state’s advancements in connectivity infrastructure, noting significant progress in speed and scale. Since 2021, the government has been constructing an average of 13 kilometers of roads daily and five bridges weekly, bringing people closer and creating new opportunities. This infrastructure development has not only reduced travel time but also improved access to essential services like healthcare and education, particularly in rural and flood-prone areas.
Highlighting the importance of connectivity in Assam’s development, Sarma outlined a vision for a robust and progressive state termed “Atal, Avichal, Agragami Assam.” He emphasized that infrastructure development, especially in roads, bridges, and transport connectivity, is a key focus to connect remote regions with economic hubs. The state’s efforts in expanding road networks and bridges have not only facilitated trade, tourism, and investment but have also aligned with national infrastructure programs to position Assam as a gateway to the Northeast under India’s ‘Act East’ policy.
Sarma reaffirmed the government’s commitment to sustained investment in infrastructure, underscoring that enhanced connectivity is crucial for inclusive growth and the long-term economic transformation of Assam. By prioritizing connectivity, the state aims to foster development, accessibility, and economic prosperity for all its residents.
