Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma unveiled significant pledges before the upcoming Assembly elections, including extensive land reforms and the establishment of a medical college in Bajali within nine months of the next government’s formation. Speaking at an election rally in Bajali, Sarma emphasized plans for a substantial eviction campaign to reclaim encroached land statewide. He committed to making 5 lakh bighas of land encroachment-free, citing that about 50 lakh bighas in Assam are presently encroached upon.

Highlighting the BJP’s election manifesto, Sarma outlined 31 commitments aimed at propelling development and enhancing public welfare in Assam. Specifically focusing on healthcare infrastructure, he assured the establishment of a medical college in Bajali within nine months of the BJP’s return to power. Sarma urged local residents to contribute land for the project, indicating a requirement of approximately 100 bighas for the institution’s setup.

The announcements coincide with the BJP’s intensified campaign in Assam, emphasizing development, land reforms, and enhanced healthcare as pivotal electoral agendas. Party leaders are actively engaging with voters, underscoring past accomplishments while presenting an ambitious vision for the future. The upcoming elections are poised for a competitive race, with major political parties ramping up their outreach efforts across the state.
