Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the state police for their investigation into the death of singer Zubeen Garg, stating that it surpassed the efforts of the Singapore Police. Sarma highlighted that four individuals involved in the controversy surrounding Garg’s death were arrested on murder charges and remain in custody without bail.
Sarma emphasized the success of the Assam Police’s thorough investigation, urging the public to acknowledge the government’s role in ensuring justice for Garg’s untimely demise. Meanwhile, recent reports from the Singapore Police revealed details about Garg’s intoxication on a yacht before the incident that led to his drowning.
The court heard testimonies indicating that Garg had been drinking alcohol on the yacht, including gin, whisky, and Guinness Stout. Despite having a history of hypertension and epilepsy, it remains inconclusive whether Garg had taken his epilepsy medication on the day of the incident. Forensic analysis found traces of medication for his medical conditions in his blood.
The captain of the yacht, named Crazy Monkey, testified that Garg required assistance boarding the vessel due to his intoxication. He also warned Garg’s friend about his intoxicated state before the singer entered the water without a life jacket. Witnesses confirmed that Garg entered the water voluntarily, with no indications of suicidal intent.
