Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Jogen Mohan, Teroes Gowala, and Pramod Boro, who secured Rajya Sabha seats from Assam unopposed as NDA candidates. Sarma, via social media, conveyed his best wishes to the trio, expressing confidence in their effective representation of the state’s interests in Parliament. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the elected members advocating for Assam’s concerns while supporting the national government’s agenda.
The three NDA nominees’ uncontested victory underscores the alliance’s dominance in the Assam Legislative Assembly, with no Opposition candidates contesting for the Rajya Sabha seats. Jogen Mohan, a prominent BJP leader and former state minister, has a longstanding involvement in the party’s organizational and political affairs in Assam. Teroes Gowala, also from the BJP, is a key figure representing the tea garden community, a significant demographic in Assam.
Additionally, Pramod Boro, the UPPL president and BTR Chief Executive Member, stands as a regional BJP ally within the NDA. Their unchallenged election is set to bolster the NDA’s representation from Assam in the Rajya Sabha, reaffirming the alliance’s dedication to advocating for the state’s developmental priorities and regional concerns at the national level.
