Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized “left-liberal” politics, accusing them of hindering development projects and stressed the importance of “competitive federalism” for state progress. Sarma highlighted the need for improved hospitals, roads, irrigation, and agriculture, lamenting the opposition faced by such initiatives.
He emphasized that Assam must actively participate in economic growth and infrastructure development to avoid falling behind, advocating for a competitive approach to propel the state forward. Sarma mentioned that states embracing reforms, industrialization, and other developmental aspects would receive more support from the Union government.
Sarma pointed out the necessity for Assam to maintain its leadership position in the Northeast by continuing reforms and infrastructure expansion. He highlighted the changing economic dynamics in the region and the need for Assam to stay ahead through effective resource utilization and development strategies.
In a discussion in the Assembly, the Chief Minister outlined the government’s development agenda, underlining the urgency of swift implementation of infrastructure projects to drive progress in the state.
