Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will prioritize grassroots workers when allocating party tickets for the upcoming elections. Sarma highlighted that nominations will be based on the efforts of leaders and workers in their respective areas. The Chief Minister emphasized the significance of dedication and organizational work at the grassroots level for receiving party tickets.
Sarma mentioned that leaders actively involved in engaging with the public and strengthening the party at the constituency level will be given precedence during the candidate selection process. He stressed that individuals consistently working in their constituencies and enhancing the organization will be considered for tickets.
The Chief Minister’s comments come amidst ongoing political deliberations in Assam concerning ticket distribution and potential candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections. Sarma indicated that the party leadership is evaluating the performance and public engagement of potential candidates before finalizing decisions.
According to Sarma, the BJP aims to ensure that candidates who have established strong connections with voters and actively supported the party are provided the opportunity to contest. The party has initiated assessments of its leaders’ organizational capabilities across constituencies in readiness for the elections.
Political analysts interpret the Chief Minister’s statement as a signal to party aspirants that without consistent grassroots involvement, mere political ambitions may not suffice for securing nominations. The BJP has been concentrating on expanding its organizational reach and consolidating its presence in Assam in recent years.
Sarma reiterated that the party’s selection criteria will be merit-based, focusing on performance and dedication to the organization. He assured that diligent workers contributing to the party’s grassroots growth will be duly acknowledged during the ticket allocation process.
