Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the 2026-27 state Budget as a roadmap for creating a “Safe, Prosperous, and Developed Assam.” He emphasized that the NDA government’s 11th Budget prioritizes welfare, employment, infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility without imposing extra burdens on citizens.
After Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah presented the Budget in the Assembly, Chief Minister Sarma stated that it signifies the trust the people of Assam have in the BJP-led government. He highlighted the meticulous planning and practical execution behind the Budget, aiming to invigorate Assam’s reform journey.
The Chief Minister noted that the Budget maintains fiscal discipline and is largely revenue-neutral. The state government’s focus lies on enhancing welfare services while also making significant investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, green energy, industries, and job creation.
Chief Minister Sarma highlighted the remarkable progress made by Assam over the past decade, with the Budget size, per capita income, and own tax revenue witnessing a threefold increase since 2015-16. Capital expenditure has surged by almost 900%, while budget utilization has risen from 58% to 85% during this period.
