Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared that despite initial ridicule from the opposition, the ambitious infrastructure projects announced by his government are now becoming a reality. He emphasized a significant shift in the state’s development trajectory during a press interaction in Nagaon. Sarma recalled how his plans for major connectivity projects like the Kaziranga elevated corridor and the use of highways as emergency landing strips were initially mocked by the Congress.
The Chief Minister defended his vision, stating that his government has consistently delivered on its promises, elevating infrastructure development in Assam to unprecedented levels. Sarma pointed out that the Congress, during its rule, failed to conceptualize or execute large-scale infrastructure projects, contrasting it with his administration’s focus on strategic planning and implementation.
Sarma highlighted projects such as the Kaziranga elevated corridor and the Emergency Landing Facility (ELF) at Moran as examples of Assam’s preparedness for various challenges. He stressed the importance of innovative infrastructure not only for connectivity but also for national security, tourism, and disaster management in a flood-prone state like Assam. The Chief Minister expressed confidence in the state’s progress, emphasizing the government’s commitment to continued rapid development.
