Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that more than 17 lakh women in the state have received financial aid through the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan program. This initiative aims to benefit around 32 lakh women affiliated with Self Help Groups across Assam. The Chief Minister highlighted the success of the scheme, emphasizing its focus on women empowerment.
The CM announced that an additional 2,000 women from Lakhimpur constituency will be included in the Orunodoi scheme. He also noted significant development projects in the Lakhimpur district, including the ongoing construction of a bridge and various educational institutions. Sarma expressed pride in the progress made in the region over the past five years.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister mentioned infrastructural developments such as new roads, a university, medical college, and Anganwadi centers in the constituency. He highlighted upcoming projects like a railway over-bridge and a sports facility in North Lakhimpur. Sarma reiterated the government’s dedication to the holistic development of Lakhimpur and its residents.
In a symbolic gesture, CM Sarma laid the foundation stone for the new Lakhimpur District Commissioner’s Office, emphasizing the importance of centralized government offices for public accessibility. He also inaugurated the distribution of financial aid under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan and unveiled a new model residential school at North Lakhimpur University’s campus, showcasing investments in education infrastructure.
