Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sent warm greetings to devotees nationwide on the auspicious occasion of Lord Jagannath’s Snana Yatra, praying for peace, happiness, good health, and prosperity for all.
The Chief Minister expressed his reverence to Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra on social media, highlighting the significance of this annual Hindu calendar event. He wished that the blessings of the deities bring joy and well-being to every home.
Snana Yatra, also known as Deba Snana Purnima, is a crucial ritual in the Hindu month of Jyeshtha, where Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra are bathed with 108 pots of sacred water, symbolizing purification and sanctity.
The ceremony, observed primarily at the Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha, attracts thousands of devotees each year. Following the bathing ritual, the deities are secluded for a fortnight, known as ‘Anasara,’ before reappearing for devotees during the annual Rath Yatra.
In Assam and various parts of the country, Snana Yatra is celebrated with religious fervor, marked by special prayers, devotional events, and community feasts at Jagannath temples.
