Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) president Gaurav Gogoi stated that the party acknowledges the people’s verdict in the recent Assembly elections and is committed to advancing the state’s progress both within and outside the legislative framework. Gogoi expressed gratitude to voters who supported the Congress and assured outreach to those who did not back the party. He praised the dedication of party workers, particularly at the grassroots level, for their unwavering support during a challenging campaign.
Gogoi also recognized the support and guidance provided by senior party leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Jitendra Singh throughout the electoral process. Despite falling short of seat expectations, Gogoi emphasized that the Congress will continue to actively contribute to the state’s development by advocating for the people’s interests within and outside the Assembly. He highlighted the party’s commitment to addressing the concerns of the Assamese population and standing in solidarity with them.
Reflecting on the election results, Gogoi mentioned that while the party anticipated close contests in various constituencies, the final outcomes in many seats were unexpected. He expressed bewilderment over the results in several constituencies, hinting at potential reservations regarding the electoral outcome. Looking forward, Gogoi announced a meeting scheduled for May 9 with all newly elected Congress MLAs to strategize the party’s future actions in response to the election results.
