Assam Cabinet Minister Pijush Hazarika criticized the Congress for politicizing the name of renowned Assamese singer Zubeen Garg. Hazarika stated that Zubeen Garg holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Assam and should not be dragged into political debates. He emphasized that ongoing legal proceedings related to the singer’s demise should not be exploited for political gains.

Hazarika accused the Congress of repeatedly attempting to leverage Zubeen Garg’s name for electoral advantages. He highlighted instances where the opposition party had incorporated the singer’s name in campaign songs and political events. Hazarika questioned the motives behind bringing a beloved cultural icon like Zubeen Garg into the political arena.

The controversy surrounding the use of Zubeen Garg’s name in political contexts has intensified amidst the political rivalry between the BJP and the Congress in Assam. Both parties have been accusing each other of politicizing public figures and cultural icons as the state gears up for upcoming elections.
