Condolences flooded in as Samar Hazarika, a well-known Assamese singer and younger brother of the legendary Bhupen Hazarika, passed away on the eve of Magh Bihu, leaving the state in deep mourning. Samar Hazarika breathed his last at his Guwahati residence at 8:45 a.m. after battling a prolonged illness. He had recently been discharged from a private hospital in the city where he was receiving treatment.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed sorrow over Samar Hazarika’s demise, highlighting his significant contributions to Assam’s cultural landscape and the legacy of Bhupen Hazarika. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also mourned the loss, acknowledging Samar Hazarika’s impactful cultural contributions and heartfelt voice that resonated with many.
