Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the state government’s artificial insemination program, aiming to enhance cattle breeds, increase milk production, and strengthen the rural economy. Through this initiative, local livestock farmers are being connected with modern dairy practices for sustainable growth in animal husbandry. The state has conducted over 6.7 lakh artificial inseminations, resulting in the birth of more than 2.1 lakh healthy calves to improve cattle productivity and farmers’ incomes significantly.
The program focuses on providing farmers access to superior cattle breeds with higher milk-yield potential, reducing breeding costs, and enhancing livestock health. By modernizing the animal husbandry sector through scientific breeding and improved dairy infrastructure, Assam aims to create better livelihood opportunities in rural areas. The government’s objective is to develop a prosperous dairy sector that can meet the rising demand for milk and dairy products while ensuring higher incomes for livestock rearers.
Assam’s government emphasizes the importance of investing in modern livestock management and scientific breeding techniques to achieve self-reliance in milk production. Various schemes are being implemented to boost cattle productivity, promote scientific farming practices, and strengthen the rural economy. The state believes that such efforts will not only lead to rural prosperity but also contribute to inclusive economic growth by enhancing the dairy sector.
