Amid the ongoing internal discord in the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Atishi, the Leader of Opposition in Delhi, responded to AAP MP Raghav Chadha’s removal as Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and the appointment of Ashok Mittal to that position. Atishi highlighted that the BJP’s support for Chadha and their praise for him, along with questioning his non-alignment with them, clearly indicate the political allegiances at play.
Chadha recently shared a message on the social media platform X, stating, “Silenced, not defeated. My message to the ‘aam aadmi’: Khamosh karwaya gaya hun, hara nahi hun.” Atishi emphasized that the current situation has brought to light the political affiliations in a transparent manner.
Atishi clarified that the issue at hand transcends personal relationships, emphasizing that her association with Raghav Chadha is not about friendship but about the nation and its Constitution. She expressed concerns about the state of democracy in the country, citing alleged electoral irregularities and the misuse of institutions like the Election Commission by the BJP.
Highlighting Chadha’s parliamentary actions, Atishi mentioned his abstention from signing an impeachment motion brought by the Trinamool Congress and his decision not to participate in an Opposition walkout. She also noted his failure to address issues such as rising LPG cylinder prices affecting the public and the government’s stance on international matters.
