He pointed out the lack of proper training and facilities for athletes, with many still practicing in fields due to inadequate resources. Mahavir also addressed the issue of infighting and disputes among players, stressing the significance of appointing qualified coaches to motivate athletes effectively. Access to stadiums and regular training sessions were highlighted as essential for player development at all levels.
Vinesh Phogat recently disclosed being one of six women wrestlers who filed a sexual harassment complaint against former WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Expressing concerns about the National Open Ranking Tournament in Gonda, Vinesh urged the Central Government and Sports Ministry to address the situation. Wrestling Federation of India president Sanjay Singh assured full responsibility for the tournament’s safety measures and venue arrangements.
