Atletico Madrid has officially announced the acquisition of South Korean midfielder Lee Kang-in from Paris Saint-Germain. The 25-year-old has inked a deal with Atletico until June 2031 for a reported fee of around 40 million euros (approximately 45.5 million US dollars). Described as a skilled left-footed midfielder, Lee Kang-in is known for his exceptional vision, ball control, passing, and shooting abilities, capable of playing in various attacking positions.

Born on February 19, 2001, in Incheon, South Korea, Lee Kang-in started his football journey at the Valencia CF youth academy at the age of 10. He made his debut for Valencia’s first team in October 2018 during a Copa del Rey match and later played a significant role in their cup-winning campaign that season.

Having accumulated 62 appearances for Valencia, Lee Kang-in moved to Mallorca in August 2021 before joining PSG in the summer of 2023. During his time with Paris Saint-Germain, he made 124 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists, winning several prestigious titles including two Champions Leagues and three Ligue 1 titles.

Lee Kang-in has also excelled at the international level, leading South Korea to the runners-up position at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in 2019, where he was honored with the Golden Ball award. Additionally, he clinched a gold medal at the 2022 Asian Games. Lee Kang-in made his senior national team debut in 2019 and has since earned 50 caps for South Korea, with his most recent appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Atletico Madrid’s signing of Lee Kang-in marks one of their three acquisitions this summer, along with Spanish left-back Alex Grimaldo and Danish midfielder Morten Hjulmand.
