Authorities have taken action to demolish the property of the main suspect in the Uttam Nagar murder case in Delhi, where a 26-year-old man lost his life during a dispute on Holi. The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) conducted the demolition against the accused, known as Nizamuddin, while investigations into the violent incident are ongoing. The clash occurred in Uttam Nagar on Holi day, starting from a minor disagreement that escalated into a fatal confrontation, resulting in the death of Tarun Kumar.
The tragic event unfolded on the night of March 4 in the JJ Colony area of Uttam Nagar. The altercation began when an 11-year-old girl playing Holi accidentally burst a water balloon near a neighbor, leading to tensions between the two families. As per police reports, the situation intensified after a dispute erupted following the balloon incident. The woman, whose relatives were called to the scene, witnessed a violent clash between the two families of different communities, resulting in injuries to eight individuals.
Tarun Kumar, a student of digital marketing and interior designing, returned home after celebrating Holi with friends and was not initially involved in the altercation. However, upon reaching his house’s lane, he was allegedly attacked by the group, sustaining severe head injuries from the assault with various objects. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Tarun succumbed to his injuries the following morning. In response to the incident, authorities arrested seven individuals, including a minor, in connection with the murder.
During the ongoing investigation, authorities have included provisions of the SC/ ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the case. Additionally, the civic authorities have taken enforcement action by initiating the demolition of the property belonging to the main suspect, Nizamuddin, in Uttam Nagar. Police have confirmed that further inquiries into the matter are currently in progress.
