Authorities in the Kashmir Valley have enforced restrictions for the second consecutive day to maintain law and order after recent events in Iran. The restrictions aim to prevent anti-national elements and miscreants from taking advantage of public sentiment. Heavy police and CRPF deployments in Srinagar city, along with barricades in key areas like Lal Chowk, are part of these measures.
In addition to Srinagar, similar restrictions are in place in other districts, particularly focusing on areas with a significant Shia Muslim community presence. Schools, colleges, and universities are closed for the day, with Kashmir University postponing exams. Internet speed has been reduced to prevent the spread of provocative content on social media.
Shia leaders, including Maulvi Imran Raza Ansari and Maulvi Masroor Abbas Ansari, have urged the community to maintain peace. J&K Police have also appealed to the public to uphold law and order, warning of strict action against those disrupting peace. The police emphasize the importance of peaceful expression while condemning violence and unrest.
