AYUSHEXCIL and the Spices Board of India have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance India’s global leadership in traditional wellness and natural products. The collaboration focuses on bolstering export promotion, quality assurance, standardization, research, innovation, and international market development for Ayush products and medicinal spices. This partnership will involve joint efforts in branding, traceability frameworks, scientific validation, capacity building, Codex engagement, and participation in global trade fairs.
The initiative is set to open up new avenues for exporters, farmers, MSMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs, and stakeholders in the Ayush and spices sectors. It aims to boost India’s export growth and global presence in the wellness economy. The MoU was signed by Dr. Anurag Sharma, Chairman of AYUSHEXCIL, and M. S. Manivannan, Secretary of the Spices Board of India, in the presence of Union Minister of State for Ayush Prataprao Jadhav.
Minister Jadhav hailed the partnership between AYUSHEXCIL and the Spices Board of India as forward-thinking. He emphasized the historical significance of Ayurveda and Indian spices in promoting preventive healthcare and natural wellness. The collaboration’s focus on quality enhancement, traceability, scientific validation, innovation, export promotion, and international market development was lauded.
The minister highlighted the proposed “Spice and Heal” initiative as a potential powerful branding campaign positioning India as a global leader in holistic health solutions. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs, farmers, and innovators. Minister Jadhav emphasized that the partnership aligns with the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat, Vocal for Local, Make in India, and Heal in India.
