Human rights activist and Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leader Sammi Deen Baloch has criticized Pakistan for viewing the Baloch people as enemies rather than a population, leading to ongoing abuses in the province. Sammi highlighted that individuals of Baloch origin face forced disappearances and killings due to their identity, emphasizing the state’s hostility towards the Baloch community. She questioned the justification of Baloch-killing policies under the guise of counter-terrorism, especially when targeting unarmed women and children.
Sammi Deen Baloch pointed out that the Baloch genocide narrative is often disregarded, despite the systematic erasure of Baloch identity without regard for age or gender. She criticized the lack of humanity in the actions of the Pakistani authorities, who perpetrate enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and illegal detentions in Balochistan. The BYC leader condemned the state’s disregard for international laws and norms, accusing it of reducing legal protections to mere words in the face of ongoing atrocities.
Balochistan continues to face severe human rights violations at the hands of Pakistani authorities, who collaborate with death squads to commit atrocities against the Baloch population. The region grapples with enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and arbitrary detentions, perpetuating a cycle of violence and oppression against the Baloch people.
