At least nine Baloch civilians have been reported as forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, according to a leading human rights organization. These incidents are part of a concerning trend of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in the region. The Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department highlighted cases like the disappearance of a 17-year-old student, Shoaib Ahmed Qambrani, taken by Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department from his home in Quetta.
In another incident on the same day, a 45-year-old businessman named Rahim Bakhsh was allegedly taken by personnel of Pakistan’s Frontier Corps from his home in the Minaz area of Kech district. The rights body also mentioned that four other Baloch youths were forcibly disappeared by FC from their homes in Minaz. The victims were identified as Ali Ahmad, Yasir, Asif, and Abdul Rehman, all aged between 17 and 19 years.
Additionally, two brothers, Zakria and Rehan, were forcibly disappeared in a raid by FC and CTD at their house in Turbat city. Another case involved the enforced disappearance of an 18-year-old student named Saddam by CTD from Brewery Road in Quetta. The Human Rights Council of Balochistan recently expressed deep concern over the rise in violence in Balochistan, attributed to both Pakistani forces and non-state actors.
