Human rights organization Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has strongly criticized the use of force by Pakistani authorities against government workers in Quetta. The crackdown on protesting employees in the capital city revealed the government’s oppressive tactics, according to the BYC. The organization accused the state of prioritizing violence over dialogue and democratic processes to address public grievances.

The BYC expressed its disapproval of the arrest of numerous government workers in Quetta following the disruption of a planned sit-in at the Red Zone. The employees had gathered to demand the implementation of the Disparity Reduction Allowance. The rights body condemned what it described as the state’s authoritarian approach, emphasizing that it violated the fundamental rights of the people.

In a statement, the BYC condemned the state’s actions as oppressive and dictatorial, highlighting the suppression of peaceful protests and democratic rights through organized force. It criticized the use of lathi charges, unjust arrests, and harassment of demonstrators as a direct affront to constitutional values and human dignity. The organization stressed that such tactics only worsen the existing oppression and atrocities in Balochistan.

The BYC called for the immediate and unconditional release of all detained protesters and urged the government to address the legitimate demands of the employees through constructive dialogue. It demanded an end to the use of force and emphasized the importance of meaningful negotiations to resolve the ongoing crisis in Balochistan.
