Veteran Bangladesh cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for May 2026. He secured this recognition after playing a crucial role in Bangladesh’s 2-0 Test series victory over Pakistan in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle. Mushfiqur outshone his competitors, Taijul Islam and Dipendra Singh Airee, to claim the award for the second time in his career, having previously won it in May 2021.
The 39-year-old Rahim emerged as Bangladesh’s standout performer, amassing 253 runs in the two Tests at an impressive average of 63.25. His stellar performance not only led to a consecutive Test series sweep over Pakistan but also propelled Bangladesh up the World Test Championship standings. Expressing his gratitude upon receiving the award, Mushfiqur stated, “It is a great honor to be named the ICC Player of the Month again. I am especially happy that this recognition came for my performances in Test cricket.”
Mushfiqur Rahim’s exceptional contributions included a crucial 71 in the first innings of the opening Test, setting the tone for the series. His remarkable display continued in the second Test in Sylhet, where he scored a remarkable 137 in the second innings.
