BCCI President Mithun Manhas paid tribute to the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack on its one-year anniversary, offering prayers for those still coping with their loss. The attack, which occurred on April 22, 2025, claimed the lives of 26 people in a brutal assault that targeted tourists. The perpetrators, associated with The Resistance Front, specifically targeted non-Muslims, resulting in a tragic loss of innocent lives.
The victims of the Pahalgam attack included newly-married couples who were mercilessly shot in front of their families. In response, Indian armed forces conducted ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 6 and 7, a focused military action aimed at high-value terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir. This operation was a strategic move to counter the terrorist threat and uphold India’s strong stance against terrorism.
Following the military operation, Pakistan retaliated with drone attacks and shelling on civilian and religious sites, prompting India to respond with targeted strikes on key installations. Despite these escalations, both countries eventually reached a ceasefire agreement on May 10, 2025. However, there were subsequent incidents of UAV and drone intrusions into Indian territories, which were promptly intercepted by Indian forces, showcasing a firm stance against any violations of the ceasefire.
‘Operation Sindoor’ underscored India’s military prowess and strategic resolve in combating terrorism effectively. The operation not only neutralized immediate threats but also served as a deterrent against future aggression, emphasizing India’s unwavering commitment to eradicating terrorism while exercising strategic restraint.
