BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has highlighted the upcoming review meeting post India men’s recent T20I series losses as crucial for course correction. The discussions will focus on identifying shortcomings and planning the way forward. India’s T20I team faced defeats against Ireland and England, prompting a reevaluation by BCCI, especially after winning the 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup.
The BCCI is closely monitoring the Indian T20 team’s performance, which has been subpar in the ongoing series against England. Saikia termed this phase as a temporary setback, common in international cricket. The review meeting, scheduled after the ODI series ends on July 19, will involve core team members to analyze the England tour’s challenges and rectify them.
The review session will concentrate solely on the team’s performance and strategies for addressing deficiencies. BCCI emphasized that the meeting will not touch on other topics. Newly-appointed captain Shreyas and head coach Gautam Gambhir are expected to participate, focusing on team selection, tactics, and their execution in overseas conditions.
Concerns have been raised over batting failures and bowling inconsistencies in T20Is, crucial as India prepares for the T20 World Cup in 2028 and the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The outcomes of the review meeting will likely impact India’s upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe starting on July 23 in Harare.
