Bharti Airtel and Google have joined forces to enhance messaging security for Indian users. This partnership integrates Airtel’s network intelligence with Google’s Rich Communications Services (RCS) platform to combat mobile spam and digital fraud. Users can now enjoy features like high-quality media sharing, interactive reactions, and improved engagement tools through RCS messaging.
Moreover, the collaboration ensures a shield against spam and fraudulent messages. The upgraded RCS service enables message viewing directly in Google Messages on most Android devices. It incorporates real-time checks to authenticate business senders, respects users’ Do Not Disturb (DND) preferences, blocks spam, and filters malicious links using advanced threat detection systems.
By merging Airtel’s intelligence systems with Google’s RCS platform and spam detection technology, the aim is to establish a secure, carrier-supported messaging ecosystem. Gopal Vittal, Executive Vice Chairman of Bharti Airtel, emphasized the company’s commitment to customer protection through data and intelligent networks to combat spam. He hailed the partnership with Google as a groundbreaking move towards enhancing messaging security and urged other communication platforms to collaborate in safeguarding customers.
Sameer Samat, President of the Android Ecosystem at Google, expressed confidence that this collaboration will empower Indian mobile users to communicate securely. He highlighted Google’s ongoing efforts to collaborate with global carriers to standardize messaging security and ensure a trusted RCS experience.
