Bihar’s Sakibul Gani made history by scoring the fastest List A century by an Indian in just 32 balls during the Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy at JSCA Oval Ground. Gani’s remarkable innings of 128 not out off 40 balls included 10 fours and 12 sixes.
On the same day, Jharkhand’s Ishan Kishan also impressed with a 33-ball century against Karnataka in the same tournament, closely following Gani’s record-breaking feat. The top two fastest List A centuries by Indians were achieved on the opening day of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-25, at different venues in Ahmedabad and Ranchi.
The world record for the fastest List A century is held by Australian batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk, who achieved the milestone in just 29 balls while playing for South Australia against Tasmania in Adelaide on October 8, 2023. Teen sensation Suryavanshi played a stellar innings for Bihar, scoring 190 off 84 deliveries, while Ayush Loharuka contributed a quick 56-ball 116, and captain Gani added another century to Bihar’s formidable total. Suryavanshi’s performance also earned him the title of the youngest centurion in List A cricket.
Bihar, after choosing to bat first, posted a massive total of 574 for six, setting a new record for the highest List A total. This surpassed the previous record of 506 for 2 set by Tamil Nadu against Arunachal Pradesh in the same competition in 2022. Bihar’s innings was filled with 49 fours and 38 sixes, showcasing their dominant batting display.
