After the Union Budget presentation, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar lauded the budget as progressive and forward-looking, beneficial for Bihar’s long-term development. He highlighted the significance of the proposed seven high-speed rail corridors, especially the Varanasi-Siliguri corridor, for Bihar’s development. Kumar also welcomed the announcement of 20 new national waterways, emphasizing the boost it would provide to inland water transport and trade activities in Bihar.
The Chief Minister noted the budget’s initiatives for industrial growth and employment, including the establishment of large textile parks, the Mahatma Gandhi Self-Employment Scheme, and support for the semiconductor industry. He expressed optimism that these measures would create new job opportunities, particularly for the youth in Bihar, fostering economic development. Kumar also appreciated the budget’s special focus on Purvoday states and the North-Eastern region, foreseeing increased industrial investment, infrastructure development, and job creation in Bihar.
Additionally, he acknowledged the provisions for urban development in the budget, anticipating a surge in investment and job opportunities in cities across the state. Kumar welcomed the announcement of girls’ hostels in every district, recognizing the support it would provide to girls pursuing higher education. He extended gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for presenting a commendable budget.
