The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government, led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, will request a vote of confidence during a special session of the Bihar Assembly on Friday. The Assembly Principal Secretary, Poonam Sinha, issued an official notification about the upcoming session. Speaker Prem Kumar presided over an all-party meeting to ensure the smooth functioning of the House before the session.
Deputy Chief Minister and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary mentioned that the House will discuss and vote on the confidence motion presented by the new Bihar government during the session. The state government has pledged complete cooperation to facilitate the Assembly’s proceedings. This session marks the second meeting of the 18th Bihar Legislative Assembly.
The new Chief Minister, Samrat Choudhary, who assumed office on April 15, following Nitish Kumar’s move to the Rajya Sabha, is required to demonstrate majority support in the Assembly as per constitutional requirements. With the NDA securing a majority in the November 2025 Bihar Assembly elections with 202 MLAs, the government is in a strong position for the trust vote. The allocation of portfolios among Ministers has been completed, with Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary overseeing 29 departments, including General Administration and Home.
