US President Donald Trump has warned of targeting Iran’s power plants and bridges in the upcoming week if Tehran does not engage in negotiations. Trump stated in an interview with Fox News that American strikes would escalate in the following days. Energy infrastructure is expected to be among the final targets in the expanding US campaign.
Trump emphasized that the strikes would persist until he deemed the campaign successful. He mentioned plans to hit power plants and bridges in Iran unless negotiations were initiated. Trump also indicated that the United States had already conducted attacks on Kharg Island but had refrained from targeting its oil facilities to prevent global economic repercussions.
The President did not rule out the possibility of a limited ground campaign when questioned, stating that sometimes such action might be necessary. However, he suggested that other entities could potentially carry out any ground operations required. Trump clarified that while the Strait of Hormuz remained open to international shipping, it was closed to Iranian traffic.
Fox News reported a significant decrease in the number of vessels passing through the strait on Monday, with only 10 ships compared to the usual traffic volume. Trump revealed that his representatives had recently communicated with Iranian officials, urging them to reach a deal to avoid severe consequences.
