The weather in Bihar has shifted significantly due to a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal, leading to rainfall and cooler temperatures in various districts, including Patna. Patna experienced heavy rain early in the morning, with dark daylight conditions due to thick cloud cover. Cool winds in the region have provided relief from the recent intense heatwave.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Centre in Patna, most districts in Bihar are expected to have partly cloudy skies, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds, and intermittent rainfall over the next 24 hours. Special alerts for heavy rainfall and strong winds have been issued for Katihar and Purnea districts in the Seemanchal region.
Meteorologists predict scattered rainfall across many parts of Bihar for the next two to three days, with a decrease of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius in maximum temperatures in several regions during this period. Notably, maximum temperatures dropped in 10 districts, with Patna recording a day temperature of 34.7 degrees Celsius, while Bhabhua in Kaimur district registered the highest temperature at 39.9 degrees Celsius.
Strong winds were observed in districts like Rohtas and Madhubani, with wind speeds reaching nearly 37 km/hour. Rainfall in the past 24 hours included 6.4 mm in Imamganj (Gaya), 1.4 mm in Banke Bazar, and 1 mm in Madhepura. The weather department forecasts no significant temperature changes in the upcoming week, with intermittent rainfall and cloud cover expected to persist, offering relief from heatwave conditions, though humidity levels may remain high in some districts.
