Bihar State Women’s Commission Chairperson Apsara Mishra criticized Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan, also known as Pappu Yadav, for his disrespectful comments towards women. Mishra deemed such remarks as unacceptable and stated that Yadav would not be forgiven. The controversy arose from a viral video showing the MP making derogatory remarks about women.
The Bihar Women’s Commission has issued a notice to Pappu Yadav in response to the incident. Apsara Mishra, in a statement to the media, accused Yadav of using highly inappropriate and disrespectful language towards women. She emphasized the active participation of women in politics and the need to respect their role and contributions.
Mishra highlighted the significant representation of women in Bihar’s political landscape, particularly in Panchayati Raj institutions where they enjoy 50% reservation. She stressed that in the face of such progress, Yadav’s indecent remarks were intolerable and warranted serious action. The Women’s Commission has given the MP three days to respond to the allegations, with further steps planned if he fails to do so.
Pappu Yadav, in his defense, clarified that his comments were not aimed at women but were meant to draw attention to the exploitation they face in politics. He questioned the Commission’s handling of women’s issues and asserted his consistent advocacy against crimes targeting women. Yadav cited various sources and platforms where he had raised concerns about the exploitation of women in politics, claiming that his statements were misrepresented to spark controversy.
