The BJP has accused Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari of threatening the election machinery. Patwari’s statement, “thik kar dunga” (I will deal with you), directed at police and administrative officials if they acted against Congress workers, has stirred a political controversy. The remarks were made during Patwari’s campaign rally in Datia, captured in a viral video that surfaced on social media ahead of the July 30 Assembly by-election.

BJP’s state media in-charge, Ashish Agarwal, alleged that Patwari’s words amounted to a threat against election officials. He criticized the language used by the Congress president, suggesting a lack of faith in democracy and the people’s mandate. Agarwal questioned whether the desperation arising from a potential defeat in the by-election had led to such public threats towards the police and administration.

In response, the Congress clarified that Patwari’s comments aimed to ensure a fair election and protect Congress workers from any unjust actions. The party accused the BJP of distorting the statement for political advantage. With less than a week until the Datia Assembly by-election on July 30, tensions between the two parties are escalating. The BJP has nominated Ashutosh Tiwari, while the Congress has put forward former MLA Ghanshyam Singh. Vote counting is scheduled for August 3.
