The West Bengal BJP unit has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India, accusing a Trinamool Congress area president of serving as a Booth-Level Officer during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision in the state. The complaint highlights Chandan Saha’s dual roles as a BLO and a regional secretary in the ruling party’s committees in Malda district.
The BJP has presented evidence to the Election Commission, revealing Saha’s involvement in both the Trinamool Congress and the election process. Pratap Chandra Sinha, BJP’s Malda (North) district president, emphasized the implications of allowing ruling party members to function as BLOs, potentially influencing electoral outcomes.
Saha, responding to the allegations, clarified that despite his past association with the Trinamool Congress, he refrained from engaging in any political activities while serving as a BLO. In contrast, Trinamool Congress’ spokesperson Ashish Kundu defended the appointments, stating that the administration determines BLO selections based on operational needs rather than political affiliations.
