The BJP and Hindu saints expressed strong reactions following an incident in a private school in Hyderabad where a Class 2 student was asked to recite the ‘Kalma’ by a teacher. This act was criticized as a potential “backdoor conversion of Hindu students,” leading to calls for keeping children away from exposure to religious matters. The school management took action by terminating the teacher’s services after the incident in Hyderabad’s Saidabad area.
The student was reportedly given the task of memorizing Islamic religious texts as a homework activity, which sparked outrage among parents. They raised concerns with the school authorities and questioned the management’s decision to introduce such religious elements in the academic environment. BJP leader T.R. Sriniwas referred to the incident as an attempt to convert Hindu students through covert means.
Sriniwas questioned the actions of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, criticizing the alleged attempt to convert non-Muslim students in the school. He demanded a thorough investigation by the Police Commissioner and called for accountability from the Education Chief Secretary and Minister. The BJP spokesperson emphasized the importance of maintaining a secular academic environment and called for strict action against those responsible from the school management.
Hindu seers also condemned the incident, with Mahamandaleshwar Vishnu Das alleging a conspiracy to convert Hindu children to Islam in Hyderabad. Seer Sitaram Das labeled the incident as a plot to convert Sanatani children and emphasized the need to address such actions promptly and firmly.
