Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates have secured all four Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat without facing any opposition. Jitendra Kanzariya, Mansinh Parmar, Rajesh Shukla, and Mukesh Rathwa were declared winners after no other contenders emerged before the nomination withdrawal deadline. The Election Commission of India had scheduled the elections for these seats on June 1.
The four candidates submitted valid nomination papers by June 8, and after scrutiny on June 9, their nominations were confirmed. Since no withdrawals occurred and the number of candidates matched the vacancies, the election proceeded uncontested as per Rajya Sabha election rules. The newly elected members will replace the outgoing Rajya Sabha MPs by June 21.
With the retirement of Shaktisinh Gohil, the Congress will lose its representation from Gujarat in the Rajya Sabha. The BJP’s dominance in the 182-member Gujarat Assembly and the absence of opposition candidates made the election results predictable. Jitendra Kanzariya, Mansinh Parmar, Rajesh Shukla, and Mukesh Rathwa, known for their party affiliations and contributions, will serve a six-year term in the Upper House.
