She emphasized the significant violations of civil rights and freedom of the press during that time. Additionally, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami recalled the Emergency as a detrimental phase for democracy, emphasizing the stifling of freedom of expression and political activism.
Uttarakhand CM Dhami underscored the Emergency’s grave implications on democratic principles and constitutional norms. He paid tribute to the individuals who bravely resisted the oppressive regime. Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma echoed similar sentiments, denouncing the Emergency as a dark period marked by the suppression of fundamental rights and democratic institutions.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also remembered the Emergency as a dark day in Indian democracy’s history. He honored the resilience of those who stood against the authoritarian measures and called for continued dedication to upholding democracy.
