A three-member BJP committee handed over its findings to State BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra regarding the suspected cross-voting during the Karnataka Legislative Council elections. The alleged cross-voting by BJP MLAs favoring the Congress has caused embarrassment to the party, especially amidst reports of opposition members supporting the National Democratic Alliance. Former BJP national general secretary C.T. Ravi, speaking on behalf of the committee, mentioned that the internal investigation was completed within four days and the report has been submitted.
The committee, consisting of C.T. Ravi, State Vice-President N. Mahesh, and MLA Mahesh Tenginakayi, conducted inquiries based on directives from the State President. They engaged in virtual meetings, individual discussions with leaders, and consultations with various stakeholders to compile the report. Ravi emphasized that the report was prepared after analyzing local evidence and circumstances surrounding the alleged cross-voting incidents. However, he refrained from disclosing the specifics of the report, citing its confidential nature as an internal investigation.
Ravi alleged that 12 NDA votes were cross-voted during the elections, with discrepancies noted in the votes received by BJP and JD(S) candidates. He accused the Congress of involvement in the cross-voting and criticized their unethical practices. The report also highlighted areas where the party could have exercised more caution and identified internal process lapses. Described as an interim report, further actions will be determined by the State BJP President and the party’s Core Committee based on the findings.
